Congress Kadlebeeja / Masala Peanuts





If you ever visit karnataka Iyengar Bakery ,then you should try this masala peanuts which is familiarly known as congress kadlekaibeeja,Kadalekai beeja in kannada means peanuts

and congress......,i don't know why is this called so.But this masala peanuts are spicy tasty and added to prepare many kinds of chats.Whenever i need to do Churmuri ( Sukka Bhel),i add this masala peanuts and there were many days where i need not go to a bakery to get this and skip doing bhel .As it is very easy to do,i thought of doing it at home and storing so that i can have it along with my evening coffee these rainy season.Very simple and easy to make.

Ingredients:

PrepTime :5 Minutes  |Cooking Time: 10 Minutes | serves:3-4

Peanuts:1 Cup
Oil: 1 Tsp
Cury leaves :1 Sprig
Red Chilly Powder: 1 Tsp
Blackpepper powder: 1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder:1/2 Tsp
Salt as required
Asafoetida :Big Pinch

Method:

Dry roast peanuts,de-skin and split the peanuts


















Add oil in a nonstick pan,once its hot,add curry leaves ,asafoetidia.Turn off heat and add turmeric powder,redchilly powder,blackpepper powder,salt and  split peanuts. 



Mix well.Add dry powders only after turning off the heat,if not spices may get burnt .


Place it in a kitchen tissue paper to absorb the extra oil,store it in a air tight container.
