Chettinad Style Fish Fry

I was bored and kept on changing channels on television and came across this wonderful recipe from Aditya Bal's Chakhle Academy. I was so thrilled by the recipe and couldn't stop
myself from trying out this recipe the same day.And believe me after having this fish,my love for fish fry got doubled.If you are bored by trying same kind of fish fry recipes,then this one is going to be an hit.Fish pieces are marinated in a delectable chettinad flavour masala and tawa/pan fried  till crisp.I'm  not sure about its authenticity as chettinad style fish fry ,this is as shown on Television :)

Ingredients:
Category:NonVegetarian | Cusine : Chettinad | Course: Starter 
PrepTime : 1 Hour (inactive) |Cooking Time: 10 Minutes | Serves: 4

Surmai  Fish Fillets: 750 gms
4 Tbsp oil, to pan fry

Marination

Garlic Cloves: 10-12
Ginger: 1 1/2 " inch
Cumin Seeds:1 tsp
Fennel Seeds:
1 tsp 
Coriander seeds: 2 
tsp
Black peppercorns: 2
 tsp
Mustard seeds:
1/2 tsp 
Curry leaves:10-12
 
Oil: 1 Tsp to grind
Tomato:1/2 chopped
Water:1
 Tbsp 
Red chilli powder:2
 tsp 
Turmeric:1/2 Tsp
Tamarind extract:5
 tsp
Cornflour:1 Tbsp to sprinkle

Method:
Dry roast ginger ,garlic,cumin seeds,fennel seeds,coriander seeds,black peppercorns and mustard seeds.


Add all the roasted ingredients into a blender,add tomato,red chilly powder,turmeric powder,tamarind ,salt,water ,oil and blend to a smooth paste.


Spread the masala over fish .Sprinkle cornflour over it.Marinate the fish and keep in fridge for minimum 1-2 hrs.


Take a pan,tava,drizzle some oil and fry fish till its crisp.



Serve hot with onion rings and lemon
